Jeff’s Hardcore Core- Waste Management Phoenix Open

Last week sure turned into a mess with the weather acting like weather does in Northern California in February.  Play was affected a good share of the week by cold and wind. Between the time of the year they schedule it for, the rotation of courses, and the pro-am,  the PGA has ruined what should be an outstanding  event on one of the most iconic courses on the planet.  It was however nice to see Justin Rose get back in the win column.  I have always liked Rose as he seems like a genuinely good dude and has always been generous with the autographs and photos with the fans.

Thankfully one of the most fun and raucous events the PGA sees all year takes place this week with the Waste Management Phoenix Open.  Over 100,000 spectators come to the event each year, a ton of adult beverages are consumed, and the 16th hole remains one of the most entertaining on tour.

It will be interesting to see if tournament officials put a kabosh on some of the debauchery this year with how out of hand thing got last year.  Although any time Harry Higgs and Joel Dahmen run around shirtless, a 20 minute clean-up should be implied.

I love how the tournament leads into the Super Bowl and I also love how Team FGI has had some real big years with this event by picking outright winners and smashing our core.

Best of luck this week my friends!
