Jeff’s Hardcore Core- Travelers Championship

Wow that Sunday at the US Open was a tough one for me to digest.  Having large tickets on both Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele, and having them both shit all over themselves on Sunday was not easy to watch.  Great effort and performance by Wyndham Clark, there just wasn’t any drama and a rather ho hum finish to what is usually one of my favorite events of the year.  I have heard mixed reviews on LA Country Club.  I guess I was a little mixed on it myself as I didn’t think it was as terrible as some said, but I also wasn’t captivated by it.  I will say that I never like when one round plays super easy as it did day 1 and then they flip the script and make it typical US Open difficult after that.  I guess I would have liked it better had one of my guys landed in the winners circle as we always tend to be happier with everything associated with the event when things go our way.

After a couple weeks of new courses, we have an old familiar one this week in TPC River Highlands.  The Travelers Championship has been played at this course which resides in Cromwell, Connecticut since 1984.  The reason I like this course and event so much is it is a course where I target a specific type of player and have had success doing it for many years.  I will talk in depth about what style players I will be targeting this week below.

Thankfully they made this an elevated event or we would not have seen much of a field having to come across the country from Los Angeles.  A full, 156 player field and loaded field, so it should be a fun and hopefully very profitable week.  Best of luck Team FGI!
