Jeff’s Hardcore Core- The U.S Open

We have finally arrived at one of the very best events all season, the U.S Open and I hope you are as excited as I am. The big reason I am so excited is because Team FGI has absolutely dominated majors over the past three years, including the U.S Open. We have had members nail some huge GPP wins, a couple for six figures, and most have crushed cash games as well. I think one of the reasons we do so well in majors is because we have a very sound strategy, of which I will talk more about below and also we put in a ridiculous amount of time researching.

The Core did very nicely last week at The FedEx St Jude. I recommended we fade Fowler (MC) and Koepka (T37) up top and that paid off handsomely. I felt like their ownership would be high and that it would be beneficial to pivot to Molinari (T24) and Scott (T10). I was correct in Fowler’s ownership, but was very surprised at Koepka’s low ownership, which only ended up being between 14-17% across most GPPs.  Molinari’s ownership ended up being super high (30%), which also surprised me. It turned out great however as Molinari and Scott both outscored Koepka and obviously Fowler and we save a few bucks in salary.

The Core included the winner (which is always huge) Daniel Berger, Billy Horschel (T4), Rafa Cabrera Bello (T4), Kevin Chappell (T4), Grayson Murray (T18), Mcdowell (T27), and Tway (T31). The only real bad miss we had was fading Charl Schwartzel. I felt like the whole world would own him, (and they pretty much did), so I strategically faded him. It obviously hurt when he put up a runner-up finish and so many people owned him and I did not. Overall a very solid week, which is great heading into a week with such huge contests.

We have been working tirelessly on research for the U.S Open for weeks now. I have watched numerous videos laying out Erin Hills and we even had a member of our staff go and walk the course last week. The amount of time we spend researching is second to none in this business and I encourage you to utilize all of the tools we offer throughout the site to help you gain a big edge over the field this week, and who knows maybe a shot at a million bucks.

As a reminder, do not neglect cash games this week. Yes, the GPPs are enormous and dangle huge prize pools in front of us, but we usually crush cash games for majors. There are a lot of novices playing DFS Golf this week and many of them will have no clue on how to build winning cash game lineups. Take shots at a big one this week, but also take advantage of the opportunity to grow your bankroll as well.

Although this is a Draftkings column, I wanted to mention that we have recently partnered up with Fanduel as well. Since they made the switch from the two round at a time contest (which we did not like and could not endorse) the new product is really great. I like the scoring better than Draftkings and I also like the fact that you select 8 golfers rather than 6, which makes it far less penal to have 1 player miss the cut. Overall, I like the product a lot and would like to see them grow their users and thus get some really large prize pools. If you would like to give Fanduel golf a shot (and I would do it now for the U.S Open), we would very much appreciate you click on the link below or on the banner on our homepage. We get a small kickback from them for every one of our members who signs up and makes a deposit. We will use the proceeds to better our tools on the site for our members. Sign-Up with FanDuel

Best of luck to all of Team FGI this week and let us know how you are doing.
