Jeff’s Hardcore Core- The RSM Classic
After a brutal Houston Open open last week that saw weather delays, blow-ups, withdrawals, an insane +1 cutline, and under 5% 6/6 rosters throughout GPPs, it is nice to be able to have an event like the RSM, which we have had so much success with in the past. I was so frustrated with the likes of Joaquin Niemann and Christian Bezuidenhout among some of the most consistent cut-makers on the PGA Tour miss the cut on Friday that I formed my own little protest over the weekend and quit watching. With the unpredictable weather that Texas usually brings and wide open field, I knew it was going to be a bit of a cluster trying to get 6/6 through the cut, which is why I employed more of a balanced lineup composition and focused on owning cut-makers. It turned out not to matter as everything was flipped upside down and guys who always make the cut missed, while others came out of nowhere with terrible form and did well. It was very frustrating. Thankfully we have an event this week with a long course history, and a course that has distinct characteristics that we can zero in on the type of player we like to target every year. These reasons, among others contribute to a lot of success we have had in GPPs over the years. Best of luck this week Team FGI!
