Jeff’s Hardcore Core- The Masters
Happy Masters week Team FGI! Words cannot express how happy I am for the greatest event of the year. Especially after a tournament like Valero last week it makes me that much more anxious for this week. Nothing against Corey Conners or Charley Hoffman or Ryan Moore, but yawn. Before we dive into a ton of information that I will share with you about my five years of experience with DFS and GPPs for The Masters let’s quickly recap Valero.
What went right? My loading up with low $9k guys worked well as Jason Kokrak, Ben An and Lucas Glover were all very good and finished in the Top 12 DK point scorers on the week. I wish I had one more guy in the low $9k range (Ryan Moore), but that guy is such an enigma I rarely own him. Adam Schenk gave us a big week as he finished the 10th highest DK point scorer for only a $6,700 price tag. Wyndham Clark was also very good for us with a T20 for only $7,100 and was only 7% owned. Out of the 18 guys in my core, 13 made the cut, which wasn’t terrible considering the blood bath the cut was.
What went wrong? I was high on Tony Finau and although he made the cut he came nowhere close to providing us the points we needed from him. A really disappointing performance from him on a course that he should have thrived. I have questions marks about him heading into Augusta. One of the biggest flops last week was Luke List. We all know how volatile he can be, but his performance on Friday was embarrassing as he dropped to nearly last place in the field. Having 30% of my rosters immediately destroyed made the weekend an uphill battle. What was really frustrating was how high some of the core were in the standings at different parts of the tournament, but fell back over the weekend, guys like Joel Dahmen, Matt Jones, and Johnny Vegas.
Overall a less then stellar week, as we did not have any exposure to Corey Conners (1-2% owned throughout GPPs) or Charley Hoffman, or Ryan Moore. It wasn’t terrible as our $9k guys pushed us above the payline on a bunch of rosters, so we were able to salvage most of our weekly bankroll.
Alright, enough about Valero, lets get onto the Main Event, The Masters. Here we go-
