Jeff’s Hardcore Core- The Dean & Deluca Invitational
Thank you to all of you who emailed and tweeted us about the success you had with the Hardcore Core Last week. It was truly an outstanding week for most of the core, but a miserable and heartbreaking one for others. Let’s start with the highpoints: Brooks Koepka with a runner-up (should have been a win-but let’s face it, he choked), Gary Woodland, Tony Finau, Colt Knost, Bryce Molder, and Tim Wilkinson all absolutely killed it and propelled a lot of GPP lineups. A couple solid, but not amazing performances were mixed in, like Danny Lee and Martin Flores. Then the agonizing and heartbreaking MC by Palmer, Snedeker, Leishman, and Piercy, were all almost hard to stomach. The 36th hole proved costly for a lot of my GPPs and if it were not for a couple shots, I would have killed GPPs across the board and actually won a trip to Pebble Beach. Actually, if Brooks Koepka simply holds on to the 3-stroke lead for a victory, I win a FGWC ticket. That my friends is the agony of DFS Golf.
With that being said, we move on to this week and the Dean & Deluca Invitational. Those of you who have been with FGI for a while know my routine. I start research on the following week’s tournament as the current weeks tournament is beginning. So I was doing research on the Dean & Deluca as the AT&T Byron Nelson was just getting started last week. If you did not know, the field for the following week’s tournament is released at 5:00 pm on the PGA Tour website. So by Saturday night, I have already identified certain guys that I like initially, even before the DK pricing is released. Then once the prices come out on Monday afternoon, I compare them to the golfers I have identified and see if there is any value to be had. This week, it is amazing how many of the players I identified early, seem to project value based upon their price, and also rank high on the FGI Model. When this happens, it usually results in a really good week, so I am very excited for this week’s tournament. As always, best of luck to all of you, and keep me updated if you are in contention in any GPPs on Sunday.

Kevin Chappell is a guy who is getting a lot of buzz this week. I have gone back and forth whether I want to roster him or fade him. I think what I will do is own a small piece of him, but be underweight. I estimate he will be owned by 20%+, so I will probably own him on 10% of my GPP rosters.
