Jeff’s Hardcore Core- SBS Tournament of Champions
Here we go friends, after what seemed like an eternity without it, we have DFS Golf back!!!!! Although we have not had any events the past few weeks, it does not mean we have not been working. 2017 brings a lot of changes for Fantasy Golf Insider and we think you are going to absolutely love them. It is always our goal to provide our members with the absolute best information in the industry to give them the best possible chance to be profitable playing DFS Golf.
We start out this week in Hawaii and also next week’s Sony Open, before moving stateside. The SBS Tournament of Champions features all the winners of events from 2016 (who elect to play). It is a small field, no-cut event so we need to strategize accordingly. For those of you who have not tried our new lineup generator, I would highly recommend doing so. It allows you to build many teams based upon the exposure that you choose. The problem with building lineups manually is you always have a natural bias that builds unbalanced teams, plus the amount of time that it takes. The lineup generator will give you different combinations that you probably would not have if you did it manually.
My last Hardcore Core was for the Hero World Challenge in early December. I was fortunate enough to have a lot of success myself in GPPs that week using my core. I tied for first (with many other people) in the $4 event and took 3rd place in the $300 event. I will use the same type of strategy this week that I always use in small field events, including the Hero World Challenge and will share it below. I actually used our lineup generator to build my lineups for GPPs for the Hero World Challenge.
It is amazing how Draftkings rarely can get out their pricing early, but this is one of the few events that we didn’t want them to get them out early, and guess what they did. Predictably, many of the players who qualified to play in this week’s SBS Tournament of Champions have elected not to play. As a result, we have a bunch of players with a big red O next to their name.
Be sure to use all the tools we offer throughout the website and if you have any questions, we are always available to help, just email us at info@fantasygolfinsider.com.
Best of luck this week!

As in all small field events, it is critical that you identify the winner to have any sort of chance in GPPs. When there are less players to choose from, the ownership is significantly elevated, so if you want to be overweight on a player, you need to make sure you have an idea of what their ownership will be. For example, if you like Dustin Johnson this week, having 20% exposure to him will not put you overweight on him. It is extremely difficult to predict ownership in these events, but check out our ownership prediction tool for our opinions. In full-field events, the most I generally own a player is 60-70%, but in these small fields, I will own higher, as I did with Hideki Matsuyama in the Hero World Challenge at 100%. As you know, to win GPPs you have to make bold moves and they won’t work a majority of the time, but when it does, you are going to have a huge payday. That is why we play GPPs.
