Jeff’s Hardcore Core- Shell Houston Open

As the majors start approaching, specifically The Masters next week, I find myself getting anxious to pop a big GPP.  I have had some nice weeks, but haven’t had a big finish that we all strive to hit in the GPP world. Congrats to all of you that I have heard from who have won this season, it is so great to see Team FGI dominance week in and week out.  I have actually had a ton of success in cash games this year.  I pick and choose which weeks I play cash and I have not played for a couple weeks because I have not liked the pricing.  This week however, I like the pricing for cash games and see a ton of value for cash.  So although this is a GPP column, I am recommending to play heavier in cash games this week.  I like to personally build three to five cash game teams, never using the same guy on all teams.  This way you can maximize value, if we are correct on the majority of our players, but not get destroyed in case one of them blows up.  Check out Zach’s Daily Spin to see the guys that we really like for our cash game core this week.

Last week went along the same lines as most this season, nail most of the core, but have a few guys inexplicably lay an egg and miss the cut, and cost most of my GPP teams a chance to take down a big one.  I was really high on Peter Uihlein last week and it paid off as he delivered a great finish, when most of the other top-priced guys sucked.  Poston, Wilkinson, Blaum, and Spaun were also very good to us.  The two guys that hurt bad were Brandon Hagy and Ian Poulter.
