Jeff’s Hardcore Core- Sentry Tournament of Champions
Welcome back to PGA golf my friends as we kick of 2018 with the first event, the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
There is a lot to be excited about with FGI in 2018 as we continue to make improvements to all of our tools. You have probably noticed our new interactive FGI Model. It is extremely user friendly directly through the website, plus we will now be able to get it out sooner in the week to you, which was one of your requests on our survey that we sent out to you. We have several new features to this Model that we will be adding in the coming months.
We continue to add features to our Rolling Stats Tool as well. This tool is extremely valuable once we get a bit into the season and have a decent sample size to pull from for players. It can still be a useful tool now, but if we run it for a players last 12 or 16 rounds, we might be looking back many months. As a reminder, if you have not read our three-part GPP series detailing all of the winning lineups from 2017, you need to do that immediately. Zach does a fantastic job presenting the information in an easy to read format, and it is easily one of my favorite articles in all of DFS all year,
The last PGA event we had was the Hero World Challenge, which is actually very similar to the event we have this week. There are more players in the field this week (32), but it is a no-cut event on an easy course, with minimal rough, and many of the top players in the world will be showcasing their birdie making ability. We need to approach this week very much the same way as we did the Hero, in that we need to lower our weekly bankroll exposure. There are a ton of unknowns this week. We do not know who is going to be sharp coming off quite a long lay-off. It has been several weeks since some players have played competitively, but it has been much longer for others. In addition, a large chunk of this field has never played at Kapalua, so we do not have a rich tournament history like we usually do in most tournaments.
Still, if you are like me, you are chomping at the bit for DFS Golf again and it sure is fun to flick on golf at night and watch, so play, just don’t get too carried away for this event. We have a full-field, cut event next week with the Sony Open.
