Jeff’s Hardcore Core- Safeway Open
Despite the fact that most of the attention in the DFS world is focused on football, it is actually a tremendous time to play DFS golf. Certainly, we do not get the huge prize pools on Draftkings and Fanduel that we get during the main PGA season, but that does not mean there is not significant money to be won. I follow the Web.com Tour pretty closely throughout the season, but really lock in over the last four events to see what newcomers have momentum coming into the PGA Tour. We have seen it in the past where guys get in that “zone” during the Web.com playoffs and carry it over to the PGA Tour, most obviously Emiliano Grillo two years ago. Be sure to check out my complete article on the newcomers I will be targeting the most this Fall. PGA Newcomers To Target This Fall Season
Besides form, we do have some course history to analyze: Tournament History Page. As far as statistics go, I will be putting a heavy emphasis on total driving this week. We want guys that can get off the tee always, but only those who have some accuracy. There are a bunch of trees and inaccurate players are going to be punished. For those who keep the ball in play, there are some incredible scoring opportunities, especially on the Par 5s. I would expect the winning score to be between 15-20 under par as it normally is. Grinding out pars is not going to get it done this week. Silverado is not an incredibly long course (7,166), so bombers will not have a tremendous advantage. Long iron play will be a key to success this week. We also can look at those players who have had consistent success on the West Coast swing and on Poa Annua greens. Events like Pebble Beach, Farmers, and the Genesis are all places we can use comps for when looking at who putts well on these surfaces.
I will go in-depth as to what strategy I will be using this week in GPPs below and who I will be including in my core of players this week. Best of Luck Team FGI!
