Jeff’s Hardcore Core- RBC Heritage

Did anybody else feel a bit depressed on Sunday night and Monday morning? I always feel the same way after a big event that I look forward to for so long and it has come and gone. Kind of down in the dumps to know that it will be another entire year before we get to enjoy the outstanding pageantry of the best tournament of the year. Honestly the coverage alone on the Masters website is such a joy and pleasure to watch and follow from early Thursday morning through the final shot. The PGA Tour really should be ashamed that they cannot provide a product that holds a candle to what the Masters gives us.

I always love The Masters, but I love it even more when we have success and make money on it as we did this week. The Core did well and had exposure of 20-25% to Patrick Reed who was owned by 10% and under in most GPPs. If you have been reading my columns and my Crystal Ball Article 2018, you know how high I have been on Patrick Reed and thought it was just a matter of time before he broke through.  It seems like his family life is not as big of a distraction as it was last year and it has shown in his play lately. In addition to Reed I also had large exposure to Jordan Spieth (3rd), McIlroy (T5), Stenson (T5), Rose (T12), Casey (T15), and Henley (T15) all who finished in the Top 15. Only two players out of my 18 player core missed the cut (Noren and Chappell). Despite how well the core did, I am kicking myself over the exclusion of Rickie Fowler. I have been backing Rickie almost every time he has played this season because I predicted he would have a great year, also listed in my Crystal Ball article, but his play lately frustrated me and I impatiently and foolishly left him out. At the start of the season I told myself to ride the players in my Crystal ball article all season no matter their current form because for the past three years a large share of my thoughts  from the beginning of the seasons have come to fruition. Rickie will win a major and anybody who thinks he will not is very wrong.

Although I am sad that The Masters is gone, we still have some highlights to come this year including three more majors, The Players Championship, and even this week’s RBC Heritage. I absolutely love Harbourtown and hope to make there some day. Zach and I have dominated DFS Golf for this event over the last few years and I hope that tradition conitinues. Having this event this week makes it a little bit easier to swallow the fact that The Masters is over. Lets keep the momentum going Team FGI!
