Jeff’s Hardcore Core- PGA Championship
It was certainly nice to see Jason Day get back into the winner’s circle last week after a long time outside of it. I have always been a Jason Day fan. We have next to zero interactions with any of the players, but the one we did have with Jason Day, left a very positive impression on me. It was back at Erin Hills and Zach and I were fortunate enough to have tickets into a sponsor suite given to us by friends in the industry. Jason Day was scheduled to make an appearance in this suite after his round of play on Friday. After a horrendous day on the course saw him shoot 75 and finish +10, and miss the cut of the US Open. I thought for sure he would be getting out of town immediately, because the last thing in the world he wanted to do was slap people on the back and put a smile on his face. To my surprise he actually showed up, fulfilled his obligation, and despite being gutted that he missed the cut, he was extremely cordial and willing to take pictures with everybody there. I am not sure how many players would have shown up and put on a smiling face in that situation. I really felt that was a classy move and it has stuck with me all these years. Anyway, onto The PGA Championship this week, our second major championship of the year. Loaded field, LIV Players, it should be a lot of fun and I am looking forward to trying to hit a big GPP score. Best of luck this week Team FGI!
