Jeff’s Hardcore Core- NFL Week 7

Last week was certainly another good one for my core and the results showed with another profitable week.  I discussed last week how weird it was consistently cashing in GPPs as it is usually harder to break the money line than it has been this year.  Normally you can hope to be profitable in GPPs a third of the weeks during the NFL season. This year we have been profitable most every week, unfortunately we have not had the monster score that you hope for when playing GPPs. We are not far off, only a player or two each week.  I have no doubt that as long as we continue building such solid cores it is only a matter of time.

What went right last week-  The quarterback position was extremely good with Brady, Mahomes, Winston, and Wilson all outproducing their price.  We thought the Pats/Chiefs game would be high scoring, but 83 points was amazing to have the quarterbacks.  Melvin Gordon was a must have at the runningback position, Elliott had 21 DK points, Tyler Boyd went off and scored 4X his price, Chester Rogers saved us with a late touchdown, and even the Cowboys and Jets defense vastly outproduced their price.  The tight end position didn’t kill me last week and actually hit hard as Hooper was clearly the tight end to own and I had a very large share, but Njoku and Graham were big as well.

What went wrong last week- There were only a few true busts in my core last week with the biggest easily being Odell Beckam, Jr.  10 points against the horrible Eagles secondary is inexcusable.   I owned a few shares of Amari Cooper and he left very early with an injury so those rosters were lit on fire. I was hoping that would be an under the radar high scoring game, but although Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin held up their end of the bargain it did not pan out as I was hoping with the Raiders.  Tevin Coleman was very disappointing in a high scoring game against a horrible defense.  Even with Freeman out, I think we need to avoid Coleman because it has now been four straight weeks under 13 points.  The Bears defense got lit up in the surprise game of the week and the Browns gave us a negative number at home.  That is what I get for rostering the Browns defense.

Overall a very strong week and one of these weeks we will have the perfect lineup.

Best of luck this week Team FGI, and as my son says frequently LETS’S GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
