Jeff’s Hardcore Core- NFL Week 6
It’s crazy how much can change with our strategy and roster composition depending on the pricing structure on Draftkings. The past several weeks Draftkings has tightened the screws with regard to the pricing of players. No longer are the days we can jam in two elite runningbacks and easily compliment them with solid talent. The big takeaway that I had from last week is to not be so anxious to try and force the issue when pricing is that tough. I felt like I needed to have Leveon Bell on a decent percentage of my GPP squads last week and even though he put up 19.3 points, it was not nearly enough to pay off his $9,500 price tag. As a matter of fact, only one week out of the first five has Bell paid off his lofty price tag. It is not only him, but most weeks this year the top priced runningbacks and receivers have come up short of their lofty price tag. Going forward, I really think the play is to avoid the $9k guys when pricing is as tight as it has been the past several weeks. It will be difficult to do, especially when those guys have really nice looking match-ups, just keep in mind in GPPs we are looking for 3X production as a bare minimum and most of the time we will need 4X+ to win the giant field GPPs. So even if a $9,500 player has a huge game and puts up 30 points, he barely hit value and you could still easily win without him on your roster. Having said all that, this week I feel as though the pricing has become a bit looser. I am still going to be hesitant to roster the $9k+ guys even with this softer pricing until I see that there are a bunch of good quality options in the lower dollar range.
As I talked about last week, injuries have taken hold as they usually do in the NFL as the season goes by and it is essential that we keep abreast of the situations up until game-time. These situations not only affect the injured player in question but also the back-up and other parts of the offense.
