Jeff’s Hardcore Core- NFL Week 3
A very nice week for my core last week as we had a good share of the highest scorers in each position. The New England stack worked like a charm as Brady/Hogan/Gronk went off. Melvin Gordon, Montgomery, and Buck Allen all delivered 20+ points at RB. Kearse and Lee both were huge low dollar specials at WR and the Bucs defense was outstanding. Below, in my strategy section I am going to talk about identifying the right games to target. Last week I nailed the right games for the most part, but in a couple of instances, I missed on the correct player. I felt like Oakland was going to have scores through the air, so I elected to go with Amari Cooper, but as it turned out, Michael Crabtree was the major recipient of action and scores. The same happened in the Cardinal/Colt game where I targeted Larry Fitzgerald and it was J.J Nelson who was the big scorer. If I had the choice of those two guys I would choose Fitz 99% of the time especially since the slot man Cooper Kupp for the Rams tore up the Cots defense a week prior and Palmer always targets Fitz more than 10 times a game. Our WR match-up chart is an outstanding tool to try and help us identify exactly who the best match-up is, but sometimes it just happens to go the other way.
Draftkings threw us a bit of a curveball with tight pricing this week after two rather soft weeks where we were able to squeeze in just about anybody we wanted into our lineups. We will need to dive down deeper into the lower dollar region and find those guys who will produce value for us this week.
