Jeff’s Hardcore Core- NFL Week 12
Has the scoring stopped yet? Truly a game for the ages on Monday night as the Chiefs and Rams topped the highest total (64) ever in the NFL by 41 points. I have never seen anything like it in all of my days of watching the NFL and I was just thankful that the majority of my Monday-Thursday rosters had Mahomes and Goff anchoring them. This week we of course have Thanksgiving and I will feature my core from that slate as well to hopefully help fuel you to some turkey day winnings. Before we dive into this week, let’s talk a little bit more about last week.
What went right? Being all over Chiefs and Saints last week certainly was not rocket science, I am just glad it worked out as well as it did. I already mentioned Mahomes and Goff being amazing on Monday night, well Kelce was terrific as well. Even though I had nearly every part of that game, I missed on Gurley and Ty Hill. Of course I missed for different reasons because I owned Gurley and did not have Hill in my core. Outside of that game we also had good performances from Saquon Barkley who I was very high on, Tre’quon Smith, Drew Brees, my Russell Wilson/ Doug Baldwin stacks, and the Vikings and Texans defense. I talked specifically about how I liked the Colts/Titans game as a sneaky shootout that nobody would be on. Well, the Colts held up their end of the bargain and my Luck/Hilton stacks were monstrous. Unfortunately, two weeks of good play for the Titans was their threshold and they were complete garbage. Marcus Mariota left the game before the end of the first half and it was pretty much over after that (although he sucked big before he got hurt). I will say Jonnu Smith did hold up his end of the bargain on the Titans side putting up 4X and actually was one of the better tight ends on the entire slate last week.
What went wrong? The Titans obviously, but also we had some massive grenades as well including Carson Wentz who did virtually nothing in what we thought would be offense from both teams, but his lousy game combined with Ertz hurt quite a bit. Christian Mccaffrey put up 17 DK points, but for his $8,000 salary that was not good enough. My election to go with him as a core member as opposed to Elliot was a bad decision. I was right on Saquon, but I really needed to pair both him and Elliot and I missed. Michael Thomas was also a bit of a letdown despite posting 19.2 points in a game where his team put up 48. Valdes-Scantling, Ryan Grant, and Seals Jones were also busts and gave us absolutely nothing.
We only have six weeks left in the regular season, so keep grinding away with your research and let’s see if we can hit a big one before the football season comes to an end!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Enjoy the time with your family and friends, great food, and hopefully some profits. Good luck this week Team FGI!
