Jeff’s Hardcore Core- Charles Schwab Challenge
It certainly ended up being a fun PGA Championship last week. Oak Hill turned out to be a really great venue for the world’s best and it was definitely a difficult test of their skills. One thing that I talked about a bit on our podcast last week and in my article was how I was going to build some rosters for different scenarios that could play out at Oak Hill. Since we really did not know how it would play, I thought it would give us an edge to build some rosters in the situation that the course played both easy or hard. As it turned out the course played extremely hard and very U.S Open like with very tough rough and difficult pin positions. Certain players excel on difficult courses while others never seem to be able to be competitive. We need to continue to employ this strategy at unknown courses that have not been played before or have been renovated and are completely different from the past and we do not know how they will end up playing.
This week we head to Colonial Country Club, the longest running host of a tour event (78th time). Despite the fact we are following a major and this is not an elevated event, the field does feature a handful of top names in the world. We are in a nice stretch of events right now with classic Colonial this week, the Memorial next week, which will feature everybody on the PGA Tour (elevated), then the Canadian and US Opens the two weeks after that. Enjoy this week’s event and let’s try and hit some big GPPs.
