Jeff’s Hardcore Core- Butterfield Bermuda Championship
This is now the seventh year of The Bermuda Championship, so we have six years of course history to work with, as you will see on our tournament history page.
The last two years, this event has had the most random winners than I have ever seen for any tournament. Two years ago Camillo Villegas won having not finished in the Top 30 on the PGA Tour all year, except for a runner-up the week before at World Wide Technologies. Last year it was Rafael Campos who was victorious and he didn’t even have a good finish the week before as he missed the cut in Mexico. In all he had missed four straight cuts coming into this event before winning it. Since his win there he has failed to finish better than T34 in any event (27 events) of which he has missed 21 cuts.
Bottom line is you do not have to be in good form to do well in this event and you do not even need to be very good at all.
One more thing I want to mention is regarding last week. I keep a notebook with notes from things that stand out from each event each year. I consult this notebook every week with notes from previous years events. One thing I added to my notebook for next years World Wide Technologies event is to include Colonial (Charles Schwab Challenge) in y course comp model. Take a look at the leaderboard for both and it goes beyond just Ben Griffin winning.
Best of luck this week Team FGI!
