The good news this week is the PGA Tour visits one of the most scenic courses on the planet and we have a multiple course rotation that we can take advantage of in Showdown Slates on Draftkings.

The bad news this week is we have another Pro-Am, with really annoying television coverage, C-list celebrities yucking it up, and no shotracker on two of the courses.

I personally love Pebble Beach and some day I will make it there and pony up the astronomical cost that it takes to play it. It is also interesting and extremely rare that we have a preview of a major championship course in the same year, just a few months ahead of time.  I will dive into my strategy for this coming week’s main slate and share with you the core of players I will be using.  I will also share my strategy and contests I will be playing for the Showdown Slate as I will take advantage of the multiple courses in rounds 1-3, as I did with the Desert Classic and Farmers already this year. Before all of that, let’s review last week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open.

What went right? For the second week in a row we had nice exposure to the winner of the event with Rickie Fowler. I ended up with 40% exposure to Fowler, which didn’t quite get me to 2X overweight as his ownership was 25% in the big $5 GPP. Fowler led DK scoring with 131 points and was a must own in GPPs. I have been high on Fowler for this  year and I featured him in my Crystal Ball Article and thus I had a hefty outright on him to win, so that was very nice. If you are on a sports betting site, I would recommend putting some money on guys featured in that column because over the last 4 years we have cashed over 50 winners.

Pretty much all of my upper priced guys had respectable performances, although not amazing besides Rickie. Woodland finished T7, which was nice as I paired him with Fowler on many lineups. Jon Rahm finished T10, which for being top priced wasn’t what we were hoping for, but still not disastrous, and Webb Simpson and Ben An finished T20. J.T Poston was a nice lower priced snag with a T26 We were pretty dead on with the upper end, but it went pear shaped with the lower priced guys.

What went wrong? Pretty much everything under $8k outside of Poston. Stanley, Dahmen, Albertson, Kang, Tway, Gooch, and Glover were all complete disasters and missed the cut crushing a lot of teams with the aforementioned successful top tier places. I knew I was taking a risk on a guy like Kang, but Tway, Glover, and Dahmen have been exceptional cut-makers and felt like they offered an extremely high floor to go along with a nice ceiling. I did own Mullinax at 10%, which helped as he finished T15, but wish it would have been more. There were not many low dollar guys that were outstanding last week and the only guys in which I could say that I missed were Im and possibly Knox. Disappointing when you have the winner and some supporting pieces, but cant get a sniff because almost none of your lower priced guys can simply make the cut.

Let’s move on to Pebble Beach
