Jeff’s Hardcore Core- Abu Dhabi HSBC (European Package)
I have been waiting for this week’s European event for quite a while now, given that I knew the field was going to be stacked. Finally, Draftkings would offer some bigger Euro contests based on how popular this tournament will be with the public. My excitement came to a screeching halt when Draftkings announced their contests for the Euro Tour this week. They had to know that it was a stacked event with the likes of Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Henrik Stenson, right? Maybe I am giving them too much credit for actually doing their homework. Surely an event like this could fill a $27 contest with more than 342 entries or a $300 single entry contest with 17 people. What a joke.
Despite our numerous emails and tweets pleading with them to offer contests that correspond to demand, it is to no avail. I would recommend that you fire some tweets to them if you are as annoyed as I am, although I am pretty sure they are not listening. At any rate, if you want to get into the initial Euro contests, you better move fast.
Overall not a very good week for my Core on the European Tour last week as several guys that I perceived to be safe cut-makers made an early exit. Luckily I went 100% Rory and was able to recoup some of my buy-ins. If you have been playing Euro Tour golf, you know how much volatility and variance there is and last week was a perfect example. This week will be interesting with such a stacked field and I have some strong feelings about what strategy I am going to employ.

I have a feeling that Dustin Johnson is going to be one of the overwhelming most popular plays this week. I have already entered 10 teams into the Dogleg and will end up with probably 20 in the $3. I will most certainly be underweight on Dustin and that is by design. I really like a lot of the players in the $8k and $9k range this week and do not like a ton of options down in the $6k-$7k range, which I would be forced to roster with DJ. As I mentioned in my PGA Hardcore Core, an important tool I use is the Sportsbook Odds vs. Daily Pricing Tool. This week there are a couple of incredibly low priced guys compared to where the sportsbooks rank them. Those of course are Chris Wood and Dean Burmester. Wood is coming off of an injury plagued season, but when healthy he is a Top player in the world. This week for whatever reason he is priced at $6,900 among the likes of Daniel Brooks, Shiv Chawrasia, and Eduardo De La Riva to name a few. Wood is in a much higher class of player than those guys. This does not mean that Wood will assuredly finish high or even make the cut this week, but I am looking for value and in the long-term that is what is going to make us profitable. For that reason I am going to be vastly overweight on both of these guys despite the fact that I believe they will both be popular.
