FGI Weekly Betting Picks – Tour Championship

Jeff Bergerson

Tough week for outright betting, so don’t risk much of your Viktor winnings from last week.  That was a nice hit for us.

Rory McIlroy, 3.5-1.  I will not be placing a ton of money on Rory, but he is my favorite for the price up top.

Patrick Cantlay, 16-1.  Starting six back is quite a chore.  I give Cantlay the best chance of anybody this far back.

Xander Schauffele, 30-1.  I am simply betting the number here since I do not feel great about Xander’s chance chasing down the like of Rory and Scottie. His history here at East Lake has been next to nobody and he caught fire the final three rounds last week, so maybe he has it in him.

Scottie Scheffler – 5/1: With an outstanding display at BMW Championship (T2) last week, Scottie Scheffler is primed to get back to his winning ways and be a serious contender at the TOUR Championship. Keep an eye on this guy – he also secured top five finishes at the Genesis Scottish Open (T3), the Travelers Championship (T4), the U.S. Open (3rd), the Memorial Tournament (3rd), the Charles Schwab Challenge (T3), the PGA Championship (T2), and the AT&T Byron Nelson (T5) earlier this summer, showing his game is on point as he gears up for Atlanta, Georgia. Scheffler is also no stranger to East Lake Golf Club. He navigated this course since 2020, giving him an edge in familiarity. If he can finally get those putts to find the bottom of the cup, don’t be shocked if Scheffler becomes the 17th FedExCup champion.

Xander Schauffele – 9/1: Lock your sights on Xander Schauffele – he’s riding high after a stellar T8 finish at the BMW Championship last week and a T24 finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship just before that. Cast your memory back to 2020, when he was the 72 Hole Stroke Play Winner at the TOUR Championship – East Lake Golf Club could be his playground once again in 2023. Schauffele’s got a tee-to-green game that could set East Lake Golf Club on fire this week, and if that putter of his decides to show up in style, don’t be shocked if he’s the 72 Hole Stroke Play Winner at the TOUR Championship once again.

Tommy Fleetwood – 25/1: Keep your gaze fixed on Tommy Fleetwood – he’s a force to reckon with at the TOUR Championship this week. While he might have finished T25 at BMW Championship last week, let’s not forget his standout T3 finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship the week prior. East Lake Golf Club? Familiar territory for Fleetwood. He glided to a confident T11 finish here in 2018 (72 Hole Stroke Play Format) and a T13 finish in 2019 (72 Hole Stroke Play Format). Although he’s coming in off an ordinary finish, if he can get his A-game going again in Atlanta, Georgia, Fleetwood’s primed to rock the course once again.

Collin Morikawa – 28/1: Don’t sleep on Collin Morikawa – he might have stumbled with a missed cut at The Open Championship, but he seems to have figured out his game again. He blazed to a T13 finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and then a T25 finish last week at the BMW Championship. Now, the spotlight’s on East Lake Golf Club, and Morikawa’s no stranger here. His game’s a tailor-made match for this turf, and the wealth of experience he brings to the table from playing here the past three years is worth its weight in gold. That’s why Morikawa stands as a hidden gem in the odds, offering up some juicy value just beneath the marquee names. Betting on Morikawa to be the 72 Hole Stroke Play Winner in Atlanta, Georgia? It’s a bet that could pay dividends.
