Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Waste Management Phoenix Open
OVERVIEW
Before we dive into my favorite non-major event, let’s look back at the one thing I got right last week – “Through three events, we’ve seen the following players win (pre-tournament betting odds in parenthesis) Harris English (30/1), Kevin Na (80/1) & Si Woo Kim (60/1). I think this is the first week we see a winner who goes off <30/1 this week”. Patrick Reed won at 25/1, but in true Patrick Reed fashion, it wasn’t without some drama. I’m not sure how I missed him, because he played well at Kapalua, missed the cut at the AMEX (where he’s not a good course fit). Then again, he was only ~5% owned in most contests and a lot of the winning lineups didn’t have him in their lineups either so I guess I shouldn’t be too hard on myself. Anyways, this week we head to Scottsdale, Arizona for the Waste Management Phoenix Open. It’ll have a little different feel this year with the limited number of fans and a much smaller structure on the 16th hole, but other than that it should produce some more of the same type of fireworks as it has in the past. The weather in the area has been more like it usually is this time of year (warm) so hopefully the forecast stays that way and those of us stuck in cold climates can enjoy what we’re seeing on tv.
