Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Volvo China Open
OVERVIEW
With the PGA Tour hosting the team event in New Orleans, the Volvo China Open is the only game in town from a DFS perspective this week and we’re seeing some decent bumps in the GPPs this week. The course is a parkland design, with undulating hills, large, well bunkered greens. Bombers can take advantage off the tee, but shorter hitters aren’t at a major disadvantage as long as the putts drop. The greens are typically hard, which also gives bombers a slight advantage on approach shots as they’ll have shorter clubs in hand, but don’t look past anyone with a high ball flight as even the crafty veteran can get long irons to stick. There are a ton of Asian Tour players in the field as this is an Open, but most of them will eject before the cut is made. Targeting the few that have made a name for themselves coming in (Sharma for example) will be a popular strategy amongst the new crowd we’ll see with bigger contests in the lobby, so you’ll need to be creative if you’re gravitating towards the chalk. I also saw Mayo is planning on gearing some content toward these contests, so normal ownership on chalk should be doubled, same as our deep dive plays.
