Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- US Open
OVERVIEW
It’s major week on the PGA Tour in California which means we get late afternoon/night golf this week! With majors comes narratives or trends and the US Open is no different than any other major in their trends. There’s some noise in them, but with the US Open I think there’s more to the trends than anything because of the course rotation and the degree of difficulty in the setup. Finding a winner is something we want to do for outright betting, but also in finding that player for our DFS lineups so I’m going to throw my favorite trends in here for you to marinate on. Each of the last ten US Open winners were inside the Top 30 at the time of their win (Bryson, Woodland, Brooks x2, DJ, Spieth, Kaymer, Rose, Webb & Rory). Nine of the last 10 had at least one Top 10 finish in the five events leading up to their win (this is a touch noisy, but also indicates some form is needed coming in). So based on that information for outright winners, we shouldn’t be looking any further than Phil this week (ironic considering this is the last major he needs to complete the Grand Slam and his win at the PGA Championship catapulted him into this spot in the OWGR).
