Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Turkish Airlines Open (European Tour Package)
OVERVIEW
Third straight year at Carya GC and we’re starting to get some solid data at the resort course. As with most resort courses, accuracy isn’t necessarily a key stat to target as the course will be setup more difficult on the greens and players will be able to hit decent approach shots from short-ish rough. Speaking of the greens, they’re big, undulating and fast. Hitting to the appropriate side of the fairway off the tee is probably an underrated part of the off the tee game here than anything. If there’s any defense that this course has, it’s the water hazards which come into play on seven holes. Outside of that, it’s a picturesque Turkish forestland that these guys should continue to dominate as scores are only held in check by the lack of par 5’s. Another interesting thing about the course this week is that it plays as a par 34 on the outward nine, and a 37 on the inward. Three par 3’s on the front and only one on the back should result in a few more birdie streak bonuses this week as well. Finally, this is the first of three legs for the Race to Dubai Championship and the last field with a cut on the Euro side of things so targeting bubble boys might be a strategy to employ this week in large field GPPs.
