Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- The Open Championship

OVERVIEW

Royal St. Georges is a former host course of the Open Championship so we do have some history to look back on, even though it is 10 years old data and a lot of the players in the field that week are either completely different players or aren’t in the field. I can guarantee you that DJ will carry some ownership this week because of his T2 here in 2011, as will Phil Mickelson considering the Open history as well as course history. Everyone & their mother is picking Jordan Spieth to win this week, if you want to avoid chalk, he’d be my first fade. Links courses demand creativity & finesse, the ability to be strategic and calm/patient when faced with adversity. Choose players who you think play that way and I think you’ll have a good course fit. There are a lot of European Tour members in the field this week. The European Tour’s primary setup seems to be on links courses if not on parkland courses. If you are trying to decide between a lower tiered PGA Tour player compared to a middle to lower tiered European Tour player, I’d take the Euro guy 100/100 times. I can’t think of a good comparison off the top of my head, but basically comparing Guido Migliozzi to Talor Gooch, I’ll take Guido. Guido vs Keegan, give me Guido etc.
