Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- The Memorial
OVERVIEW
This year marks a big change for Jack’s event in Ohio as he’s coming off a year of major renovation to Muirfield. I’ll highlight those changes below. The field is strong to quite strong (as expected) as this is one of two events top tier players will get tournament reps in before the US Open at Torrey Pines. I would imagine most of the elites will skip a new event at a new course across the country prior to a major, but that’s just an assumption. This week should also be a pretty good “warmup” for those in attendance considering the course can play really tough and I’d imagine that’s what Jack would want if he were still playing competitively prior to gearing up for a major. As you’re aware, last year we had the Workday Charity Open played the week prior to this event, it was played at just under 7,400 and some tees were moved up to allow for “more fun” and lower scores as evidenced by Morikawa’s win over JT in a playoff at -19. Jon Rahm won the following week at -9 on the exact same course, but a different layout. That’s a pretty significant change in scoring conditions if you ask me.
