Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- The Masters
OVERVIEW
Its finally here! This year’s tradition unlike any other is just that as we’re heading to Augusta in November instead of April. There are so many storylines to keep up with, it seems like everyone is in order to claim their first or next green jacket. First off, we have the reigning US Open Champion Bryson Dechambeau who comes in as the favorite to win following a couple weeks off and testing some longer driver shafts. We’ve got Rory McIlroy who’s in search of his first green jacket and attempting to complete the career grand slam. We’ve got world #1 Dustin Johnson fresh off a runner-up at the Houston Open, where his game looked sharp after the opening 18 holes. There’s defending champion Tiger Woods, who hasn’t looked good in limited starts since the end of summer, but has a ton of course history on his side to argue he might find his game for four days and repeat once again. World #2 Jon Rahm enters as another elite golfer whose been trending upwards specifically at Augusta over the past two years. Brooks Koepka found a bit of game on Sunday which means he’s in the conversation this week because “all he cares about is majors”. Then we have one of the best in the world in Justin Thomas, whose been close to winning several times this year, but only has one win in a non-limited field event this season. I could go on and on about other top tier plays, but I think its important to note that this year’s edition has a slight change in the cut rules. Normally the cut is Top 50 & ties and anyone within 10 strokes of the lead, but this year they’re doing away with the 10-shot rule and it’ll only be the Top 50 & ties playing the weekend.
