Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Shriners Hospital for Children Open
OVERVIEW
This week we finally gain some edge on the field with our first cut event in what seems like forever (three weeks). We’ll get a birdie fest this week, so we’ll want to target guys with high birdie or better stats (obviously), but also those who have shown the ability to be good putters when the conditions are optimal (versus targeting strong putters in general). The fairways are wide here, and the rough should be pretty short, thus widening the fairways (to an extent) even more. Scrambling isn’t really an issue here, but if you were to target a scrambling stat, I’d be looking at SG: ARG as players who miss greens here should be closer to the hole. The players are also at some altitude this week, which gives even the shorter hitters a bump in driving distance. This week’s course comparable is TPC River Highlands (Travelers). Also as a reminder, the stats listed below are from the 2016-2017 season, so don’t put too much stock in what’s listed for each player as it may not indicate future success.
