OVERVIEW
Last week’s suggestions turned out to be pretty good as we had the winner (Rahm) and several value plays, including deep punts pay off their price tags (RCB – 4th, Kaymer – 9th, Ancer – 19th, Lemke – 34th, and Lagergren – 31st). I almost didn’t want to acknowledge how well the plays went as that usually ends up biting me the following week, but since it was a new course to the rotation and we have the same thing this week, I feel like it should be said that the research being put in is paying off. I say that because we’ve been in the grind for the last six months and now that we’re on the downhill swing of summer our tasks become mundane. You can lose your way a bit when it comes to DFS and it’s good to know that you’re understanding how courses should play out, how the players you’re targeting will play, and that you’re on the right track. That being said, we have another week where we have a new course to the rotation of the Scottish Open and a stout field of players to choose from this week as Rory, Rickie, Kuch and JT have all made the trip over prior to the Open Championship. This event has produced some fireworks as well as some great play from players who have gone onto become multiple PGA Tour winners, as well as Major championship winners in Justin Rose, Phil Mickelson, Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell. The course is a modern links course which could be comparable to Castle Stuart in its large undulating greens and the challenge that each hole brings. It’s been said that it’s a 2nd shot course – which most courses are, but if you’re missing these greens, you better be able to knock your next shot close or you have no chance. Scrambling will be the differentiator this week.
