Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Rocket Mortgage Classic
OVERVIEW
If last week was major hangover week, then this week is just hangover week because I have very little interest in the field, the course and the event as a whole. Last year we saw Bryson beat Matthew Wolff by three shots, but it was never really in doubt after the first few holes on Sunday. Wolff returns this week following a missed cut at the Travelers where he looked terrible for 36 holes, Bryson returns to defend his title and to fulfill a sponsor’s request so seeing him successfully defend wouldn’t be out of the question. 4th of July week is special for many reasons and I understand that the Tour must go on, but we’re seeing a fairly weak field event for 2021. Now, the same can’t be said if this was the field five or six years ago with the likes of Bubba Watson, Jason Day and Rickie Fowler, but these guys are no longer the cream of the crop – as we saw yesterday with ejections from both Bubba (at the literal worst time) and Jason Day (Rickie missed the cut, but this course should setup easier for him as long as the putts drop). This week is a family week for me so I won’t be around much and definitely won’t be tuning in to any coverage after last week’s horrendous commentary as well as the 8 hole playoff so if you’re the “watch the event type” I wish you luck this week and hope we’re able to nab some winning screenshots and possibly a winner in outright betting.
