Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Rocco Forte Open
OVERVIEW
Last year Verdura GC hosted the event for the first time since 2012. Alvaro Quiros had a five-shot lead beginning the final round and managed to hang on by a thread beating Zander Lombard in a playoff. With most of the attention being on THE PLAYERS this week, we have a less than desirable field in Italy, but one we can still exploit. Quiros returns in similar form as last year having posted a runner-up finish in his last five events, as well as some youngsters who have been playing excellent golf coming into the event. The course was designed by Kyle Phillips who also designed Kingsbarns (see corollary courses), is a traditional links style with narrow & undulating fairways built with half of the holes running alongside the sea and the other half at the foot of the mountains. Wind will definitely play a role in this week’s results as gusts are expected to reach their peak of 20mph by midafternoon, so be mindful of that when finalizing your rosters before lock.
