Welcome to the Week 6 of the Golf Calendar Year!

Congrats to Viktor Hovland on an impressive 66 in round 4 to get the job done. Getting your 3rd win worldwide over your last 5 starts is an impressive feat and I have no issue with any of them not being in the mainland US. Those will come soon rather than later. Regrettably, I chose to try and beat Hovland and Rory last week at the Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic and that came back to bite me as they both took turns with the green screen sucker punches. Sergio could not do much after an impressive round 1. Wiesberger could not buy himself a putt, except in round 3, and even though he struck the ball well, the mistakes across the whole tourney were too much to overcome. And I chose to pass on Richard Bland as well. Man, did he look good on Sunday. It has been an impressive set of back-to-back to events with Pieters and Hovland winning. I would love to say that we are in store for a third, but with a field strength dropped by 175 SOF points and a prize pool of only $2,000,000, I am not holding out too much hope.

Before we dive into the first of consecutive events at Al Hamra, I must offer a sincere congratulations to Luke List in outlasting the field at the Farmers. And a special shoutout to Jeff for his pre-tourney pick of List at 90-1! My money was on about all the chasers, pre-tourney, and in-tourney. It was nice to see Jason Day look like the elite golfer of old. Whether it was for one week or a sign of the phoenix rising, we will hopefully find out soon enough.

I cannot say I am a huge pro-am fan, but I do like the Pebble Beach Event as a whole. It is just a shame that it has been relegated to second tier California status that does not attract much of an elite field. That usually means there are plenty of prime betting opportunities especially if you find a non-elite golfer in the field that you favor. The rest of the FGI crew are the right ones to help narrow down the guys that have no chance and put you on to one or two at long odds that just might. As always, read everyone’s articles as soon as they come out, and do not forget the pod, which is one I plan on binge listening as soon as it is out, especially since I believe it should be another prime showdown week as well.

And I would not be doing my job if I did not give a mention to the Saudi International event on the Asian Tour this week. Lots of big names there and I would be lying if I said I was not a little bummed there is not a DK contest at time of publication. On the chance something drops, I will release some content in the slack, so stay tuned. Even without DK action, I encourage you to look at the outright market for that event, as there are plenty of name golfers worth a few dollars.

Let us take the hop, skip, and jump over to Ras Al Khaimah.
