OVERVIEW

Last week was rough, especially once I realized Matthew Southgate withdrew from the event prior to start. Our core of Luiten (T11) and Sullivan (T23) finished well. Stars Noren (T18) and Pieters (T26) also finished decent enough and the suggested fade on EVR (MC) worked in our favor. Our value plays of Levy (MC), Guido (MC), Dunne (MC), Perez (T16), Fox (T18), and Herbert (T14) were basically a 50/50 split and you can probably guess where most of my exposure landed (not on the 3 that actually made the cut). As for the punt plays of Donaldson (T23), Gallacher (T32), Morrison (T57), Lipsky (T29), and Ko (T57) – they all panned out about as good as I thought they would. Out of all of the players I included in this article, only three missed the cut and of course two of them were my highest owned. That’s DFS! Fun stuff.

This week we head to Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course for the Portugal Masters. DPVGC was designed by Arnold Palmer in 2004 and has typically played as a fairly easy test of golf over the years. The course is wide, exposed to weather elements (wind, primarily) and features water on six holes, but it shouldn’t really come into play. The greens are large, which should pump the greens in regulation stats for a lot of the field this week and lag putting could be just as important as hitting approaches close. The event has typically turned out some high scoring affairs in the past, but apparently, they’re trying to make the course tougher by lengthening the rough, so we’ll see how successful that endeavor is. The past nine winners have not been the favorites, so there could be some magic in purposely building balanced lineups this week. In fact, most favorites haven’t cracked the Top 5 over the years here.
