Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Portugal Masters (European Tour Pro Pack Members)
OVERVIEW
The Arnold Palmer designed Dom Pedro GC hosts the Portugal Masters once again this year. DPGC is an exposed links course with strategic bunkering along the wide & generous fairways. The rough should not be as penal as Valderrama was last week, but it is worth mentioning that the rough is now made of Bermuda grass, which in itself is more penal in ways as opposed to bluegrass/fescue. The greens are large and somewhat undulating, putting an emphasis on hitting “spots” on the greens versus firing at every flag as well. The superintendant added some trees along the 2nd, 5th and 10th holes, which was intended to prevent the longest hitters from cutting the corners of doglegs, but they’re not quite mature yet so I wouldn’t be too concerned with the addition. Typically, this course is no match for European Tour pros as winning scores in the past have exceeded the -20 mark and I expect more of the same this year.
