Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview-Porsche European Open (European Tour Package)
OVERVIEW
This week the Porsche European Open heads back to Green Eagle GC for the second consecutive year. The course can play up to 7800 yards as a Par 73, but will be playing as a par 72 at just over 7,500 yards. The course features water hazards that run along the 17th hole making it “the most difficult place in Germany”. I expect some carnage this week with the Open hangover and lack of talent in this field. Last year’s edition saw Alex Levy lose to Jordan L Smith in a playoff and provide a bit more insight into what types of players play well not only in this event, but on this course. Levy played well by hitting the 14th most fairways in regulation and 37th most greens in regulation, while scrambling his butt off (4th) and having a hot putter (7th). Jordan used strong off the tee play (3rd in DD, 7th in fairways, 15th in GIR) while also possessing a strong short game (7th in scrambling and 16th in putting respectively) on Friday and Saturday to vault up the leaderboard, ultimately not giving much back on a tough Sunday. We’ll be leaning heavily on players who showed flashes of strong play last week, as well as a few of our usual suspects in the field this week.
