Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Porsche European Open (Euro Tour- Pro Pack Members)
OVERVIEW
I thought we’d seen it all with the things the European Tour has done as far as different types of events with the Shot Clock Masters, their events where they are competing with the Ladies Euro Tour, but now we have a strict 54 hole event starting on Saturday (June 5th) and ending on Monday (June 7th), so the event will be 54 holes, no cut. Of course, I’m mostly kidding about “seeing it all”, but this was the German Government’s decision to place the United Kingdom on its travel “red list”. Because of this change, not only has there been a fall-out in the field (because of where most of the field was already staying), but also the staffing for the event has been cut back because of the travel mandate. This isn’t good news for an already “weak field” event, but for the people of Germany. There are still a few big names in the field in Paul Casey & Henrik Stenson (Abraham Ancer is also in the field, but he’s not quite a “big name” even though he is inside the Top 25 in the OWGR). Green Eagle has hosted the last three editions of this event, so at least we have some course history to go off of for this week’s limited field event. DraftKings has decided to take a page from their Champions Tour contests this week with the 54-hole event and are only running showdown contests. This throws a wrench in my initial analysis of the event, but I still like all of the listed plays below for R1 showdown contests, and obviously if the guys mentioned are playing well after 36 holes, I would like them to continue their pace. All prices listed below are for R1 Showdown ONLY (as R2 prices aren’t available yet).
