Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Omega Dubai Desert Classic (Pro Package)

OVERVIEW
The Omega Dubai – Masters connection narrative will be in full swing as this is the event that a lot of Twitter personalities have latched onto as some kind of indicator of success at Augusta (Danny Willett won both in 2016, Sergio won both in 2017, but that’s it). Sergio’s win wasn’t exactly tied to Augusta until after someone realized he won both and Danny’s win here catapulted him in the OWG rankings highlighting him as a premier value that ended up working out. Outside of that I don’t think there’s much of a real connection so let’s leave it at that. The course is “desert links course”, Par 72 and measures just over 7,300 yards and does feature a lot of right to left shots from the tee (like Augusta). There are four Par 5’s and three of them are on the back 9 (which may give us a slight edge when looking at stacking tee times if they run split tee times). These are the holes where most of the scoring is going to come from, so make sure you’re targeting Par 5 specialists (if that’s even a thing without doing some massive amounts of research). If the wind blows, it can keep scores in check, but if not we should expect more of the same range of winning scores as we’ve seen the last two years. With the exception of 2013 & 2014, this event has been won by some big names in the game of golf, and I would expect more of the same this year.
