Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- KLM Open (European Tour Package)
OVERVIEW
The KLM Open returns to The Dutch again this year, along with one of the defending champions from the last two years – Romain Wattel. Joost Luiten injured his wrist awhile back and isn’t at a place in his rehab to tee it up this week (his home Open). The course is an exposed course that has a links feel with water in play on eleven holes. Its short at just over 6,900 yards and plays as a par 71. The bunkering is very similar to links style bunkers (pot bunkers & tall grass covered mounds) and according to some, features some of the best greens in Europe. Speaking of the greens, they should play pretty fast this week, and the undulations should make the putting even more important. Proximity to the hole might not be a great stat to target this week because of the undulating greens. Players will be playing to spots on the greens where they’ll have the flattest lie, or will be hitting their approach shots to play off the mound and have the ball roll down to the hole. Greens in regulation and scrambling appear to be the major factors in success here – Wattel ranked 10th in GIR & 26th in Scrambling, Connelly ranked 2nd in GIR & 8th in Scrambling last year, Luiten ranked 2nd in GIR and 1st in Scrambling and Wiesberger ranked 17th in GIR & 10th in Scrambling in 2016.
