OVERVIEW
Another week in the books and another “player who can’t win” claiming a trophy at the Greenbriar in Kevin Na. He did it the way most of these “anti-closers” have done it this year, by posting a low round prior to the final group finishing up and I think we’ll see more of that by the end of the season (hopefully Tiger can add his name to the list too!). This week we head to Quad Cities and TPC Deere Run, a less than driver course with easy fairways and greens and a really weak field. Bryson’s the defending champion, and heads up the group of top tier players in the field. Zach Johnson and Steve Stricker have dominated this course for the last decade and always seem to be in the mix here which helps us identify the type of golfer who should succeed. The course plays as one of the Top 5 easiest on Tour, so I’d expect another shootout and potentially another winner via playoff. Lastly, the JDC accommodates players heading to the other side of the pond for next week, so don’t let player motivation for the top of the field enter your mind when creating lineups this week. Money is the number one motivator for the class of the field, and a spot in The Open should motivate the rest of the bunch.
