Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Irish Open (Euro Tour-Pro Pack Members)
OVERVIEW
The field is a bit weaker than usual for this event primarily because of the change in schedule as it’s no longer part of the Rolex Series and comes directly following the US Open, but we have some big-ish names here this week to pick through from. We have a new course in the rotation of this event, but some of these players have played the course on the Challenge Tour as it was host to eight events since 2013. Galgorm Castle is a short parkland style course, with only two Par 5’s (both on the back 9) – playing as a Par 70. The course also opens with two short Par 4’s in the first four holes, so there could be some fireworks early on from both waves of tee times. The weather this week looks to be very “Ireland-like” with temps in the low 50’s and winds between 10-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Showers are expected for Thursday and Sunday, but nothing too threatening. With the conditions being up in the air, I’ve compiled a list of players who should be able to navigate the different types of weather accordingly. Primary plays are the ones with analysis and should be able to handle the weather and course regardless. Tertiary plays are ones who should play if conditions get tougher and are more geared for multiple entry / GPPs. Of course, I always treat the European Tour as GPP only and will be playing a mixture of both this week.
