OVERVIEW

With “The Match” not really meeting high expectations, we head to Albany for The Hero World Challenge. Before I get into the 18-man field, here’s my take on The Match. There were a few cool things that happened (Tiger’s chip in on 17 being the best actual golf moment) – BR giving the event away for free was the best non-golf moment and if you weren’t paying attention on Twitter you probably didn’t even know it was free. The subtleties of the conversation between Phil & Tim was cool too. Other than that, it was a disaster. Hearing Tiger huffing and puffing his way around the course, Jake talking over the guys constantly, the 90 yard playoff hole, making these guys walk the course (instead of putting them in a cart together which is usually where you would get genuine conversation as well as speeding up play) and not letting them make more in-game wagers for money that would’ve gone to charity all missed the mark. As of today, I’m not sure I want to see more events like this or not. Was I happy to have some golf to watch on Black Friday? Yes, but The Match wasn’t as good as watching Aaron Rai or Team Belgium dominate their respected events. As for this week’s 18-man event, DraftKings really missed the mark this week with an OBVIOUS opportunity to roll out Showdown golf with a captains spot. Unfortunately, we get the same old garbage contests and regular format so with that being said, play everyone. Get funky with your lineups. The more the merrier. Build 25-50 with a specific core, then build another 25-50 with a different core, then build 25-50 random lineups. Anything goes this week as literally everyone is in play to win. If you’re new to mass multi entry, this is your opportunity to learn how to do it and you can build a ton of lineups without breaking the bank (Quarter arcade, $1 GPP, $2 GPP). Basically, have fun with DFS this week, review your lineups after its over to see what worked and what didn’t and use that info when the season kicks back off in January.
