Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Golf in Dubai Championship (Euro Tour- Pro Pack Membership)

OVERVIEW

We have a WEDNESDAY start this week, so make sure your lineups are set earlier than usual! We’ve had plenty of events at the Earth course, and now the European Tour changes their focus to the Fire course at Jumeirah Golf Estates for the first (and last?) installment of the Golf in Dubai Championship. There is no course history this week, but we have plenty of players in form to choose from and since the European Tour is like the wild west when it comes to front runners leading on Sunday, it might be privy to attack this from a showdown perspective instead of a classic contest format. The Fire Course is long just like the Earth course, both are desert style setups with backdrops of the great city of Dubai and the Fire Course appears to setup a bit easier than the Earth. Fairways and greens are made up of the same grass types, so it might behoove us to look at form from players from the Dubai Desert Classic when applicable. Even though the Par 5’s are long, they’re very gettable and offer plenty of aggressiveness off the tee and on approach. This is where players will need to score if they want to be in contention on Sunday. The 1^st & 16^th holes are short Par 4’s which will tempt the longer hitters into playing “Bryson ball”, though I don’t know if we’ll see a lot of players driving the green. Desert golf has it’s “course fits” so we’ll be leaning on players who have shown in the past that they can play in this type of environment and have the length to attack holes that are attackable.
