OVERVIEW

Last year we had the “International Team winning events” narrative and this year we’re seeing a resurgence of good players continuing to add to their winning legacy as we’ve now seen Patrick Reed notch his annual win, Brooks Koepka get back into the winner’s circle after a bit of a drought following a year while playing through an injury and last week we saw Berger continue to add another trophy to his case – though this time it was a different trophy than he’s used to seeing. Jordan Spieth looks all but back now, clearly he still needs to clean up some nerves when leading on a Sunday as that’s now two weeks in a row where he’s let his foot off the gas and someone else ended up winning the event, but he looks like he’s going to win again very soon (though I don’t think this is the course for him). Other’s to look at this week cracking their “haven’t won in a long time” cherry would be Tony Finau & Hideki Matsuyama (both of which you’ll be able to find on my betting card this week). Both have great course history and both are in form, they just have a few areas in their game that need to be cleaned up and they both start with the putter. We stay on the west coast yet again where the historic Riviera Country Club hosts The Genesis Invitational, I’m sure we’ll have yet another thrilling weekend of golf to watch!
