Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Farmers Insurance Open

OVERVIEW
Believe it or not, this is the only section of the article where you’ll find the names Rory McIlroy (DK $11,600), Jon Rahm (DK $11,300) and Tiger Woods (DK $10,800). Not because I don’t like them as players this week (I do), but because I don’t think you need me to tell you to play them. They’re obvious plays by literally everyone, and they’ll be owned as such. It’s up to you as to what capacity you’ll play them and in which formats. I will say, I prefer Rahm over Rory in GPPs and Tiger as more of a one-off to 15% play. The event is the same as usual, each player plays the North and South course before the cut, at which point the South will host the final two rounds of the event. Last week’s narrative of targeting the easier course first will be flooding your timelines again this week, but as of writing I’m not sure how I want to attack the draws. Certain players play differently when they’re up against needing a low round to get through to the weekend and I think that’s more important that just blindly taking players who start on the North. The South course is not only more difficult, but it’s also 400 yards longer which puts a strong emphasis on driving distance. Players in our player pool will need to be those that typically gain strokes off the tee, as well as from tee to green. Putting hasn’t been a differentiator here in the past, so I don’t think we need to put an emphasis on it this week as whoever strikes the ball the best and doesn’t give those strokes away on the greens will come out victorious. The field is pretty stacked even though DJ & Brooks aren’t here, half of the world’s Top 10 players are here and we have a group of young stars ready to make their mark on the PGA Tour and it all starts this week.
