OVERVIEW

The keys to success this week lie in the ball striking. When looking at players who’ve performed well here the past 10+ years, the one stat that keeps popping up is ball striking/approach. Sure, Rose, Kisner and Spieth are all good putters when comparing their baseline’s to most of these other players, but outside of that we have a list of players who typically struggle with their putting week to week. Colonial is a Par 70 which features seven Par 4’s that measure between 400 & 450 yards, making that a key scoring metric to target this week. Both of the Par 5’s makes up two of the three easiest holes on the course, so scoring on those will be key in making sure your players don’t lose strokes to the field. Outside of that, everyone is basically in play as bombers get the club down advantage off the tee, and short, accurate hitters get the accuracy bump which is crucial for approaching these small greens. The course features many doglegs and is susceptible to the Texas winds even with the course being lined with trees (90% of trees is air).
