Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- BMW PGA Championship (European Tour Package)
OVERVIEW
Euro DFS makes its triumphant return this week as we head to England. The course was re-renovated last year, so the players should be much happier with the new look. The fairways are tight and the greens are small, so accuracy will be at a premium this week. A strong tee to green game will be the key in finding a winner at Wentworth as is usually the case. Last year Alex Noren won using a well-balanced attack of length and accuracy off the tee (ranked 34th & 32nd respectively, scrambled his butt off (4th) and his typical strong putting on the greens (9th). Aside from Rory and Ben An, the winners of this event haven’t been the best at driving distance, so it may be a contrarian build to target guys who don’t excel at hitting the long ball, but aren’t short hitters either. Scrambling is definitely a strong statistic to target and of course anyone bringing a hot putter to the course. Paul Casey makes his return following an injury which caused him to withdraw from the PLAYERS a couple weeks ago. His game has looked sharp this year, even after his win, so he may be a contrarian play in tournaments. This is a premier event on the European Tour, where the cream typically rises to the top. We’ll want to target those types of players for our core plays and sprinkle in the lesser consistent players who offer value to ensure we get as many players through the cut as possible.
