Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- BMW Championship

OVERVIEW
This week is a no cut event featuring the Top 70 in FedEx Cup points thus far. Only the Top 30 in FedEx Cup points advances to Atlanta for the grand finale. The course is a Donald Ross design (strategic bunkering and hazards around the greens, course management type of course) that recently went through a renovation to create new tees, bunkers and enlarge some of the greens with the unused space, but with Ross overseeing the redesign, it’s still “Ross’d out”. He calls this course his masterpiece and a grueling test of golf for the best in the world, so I don’t expect to see scores of -20 or better this week. Aronimink previously hosted the 2010 & 2011 versions of the AT&T National hosted by Tiger Woods. Finishing in the Top 10 in those events were the following players; 2010: Justin Rose, Ryan Moore, Jeff Overton, Charlie Wi, Carl Pettersson, Marc Leishman, Nick Watney, Jason Day, Vijay Singh
2011: Nick Watney, KJ Choi, Charles Howell III, Jeff Overton, Adam Scott, Robert Allenby, Chris Stroud, Chris Kirk, Bryce Molder, Webb Simpson. It appears to me that ball strikers are the ones to target on this course, hoping that they are either average putters or get hot with the putter this week. Leishman will probably be a player who is not talked about this week by many, but ends up getting ownership despite the lack of touting (The Kuchar Effect). For that reason, I won’t be writing him up, but would consider him as a cash play and as a one-off or 15% exposure play in GPPs. With the event not having a cut, everyone is basically in play and if you’ve been experimenting with MME’ing as I have, I would encourage you to really let loose in your process. Mix things up a bit if they haven’t been working thus far. Next week will be one of those weeks where there will be chopped pots in all contests so let’s go out with one last bang before we dominate the fall season.
