Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

OVERVIEW
We go from my favorite non-major to one of my least favorite events on Tour as we head over to the three course event at Pebble Beach this week. You’ll hear plenty of Bill Murray, Chris Berman and other celebs that will try their best to stay out of the pros’ way this week, but ultimately you’ll probably see more celeb shots than golfers not named Phil Mickelson. As mentioned above, there are three courses in play this week with Pebble being the host course, players that make the three day cut will play Pebble twice and like the Career Builder there will be an advantage to playing the easiest course (Monterey Peninsula) with the best weather or on Saturday (whichever looks better).

TOURNAMENT BACKGROUND

o The Courses
• Pebble Beach (Host course – 2 rounds if player makes cut) – 6,816 yards – Par 72 – Poa Annua greens
• Spyglass Hill – 6,953 yards – Par 72 – Poa Annua greens
• Monterey Peninsula – 6,914 yards – Par 71 – Poa Annua greens
o Location: Pebble Beach, California
o Expected scoring: One course (Monterey) draws a much easier test of golf than the other two, and one has played more difficult than the other two year over year (Spyglass) so keeping an eye on the weather and tee times will be imperative this week to finding success in cash & GPPs. The best advice as of writing would be to look at winds, temps and who plays Spyglass on the worst weather day and avoid those playing on that course that day. Birdies will still be made this week and targeting a mixture of bombers and ball strikers worked out well for me last year, so I’ll be doing the same again this week.

o Strong Emphasis – SG:OTT, SG:T2G, Greens or Fringe In Regulation, Birdie Or Better
o Important – Par 4 Scoring, Par 5 Scoring, Scrambling, Bogey Avoidance, SG: Putting
