Fantasy Golf Tournament Preview- Arnold Palmer Invitational

First off let’s acknowledge the field size this week. As with invitationals, the field is cut down to 120 players and the cut is still Top 70 and ties. This week might end up like a no cut event as far as DraftKings is concerned where you could possibly have all six golfers make the cut and not win a substantial amount of money. That being said, I think it’s important to build rosters with upside this week if you’re looking to take down GPPs. You will probably need 3 players in the Top 5, one low owned player in the Top 15 and someone who scores a ton at a low cost. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk about the REAL story here and Tiger Woods’ form coming into this event. An event he’s won eight times prior. An event he won four consecutive times while in the prime of his career. He’s going to be massively owned this week, so if you don’t think he’s disciplined enough to keep the driver in the bag, or think that the Tiger we saw on Sunday is the one that shows up this week, he’s not someone you should play in any capacity. If like me, you think we have just scratched the surface on the 2018 version of Tiger Woods, then you need to figure out how you’re going to get exposure to him – whether it be cash games or GPPs. I don’t think there’s a wrong answer between either, but I say that as a huge fan of the golfer. The course has played pretty similar over the years, the rough is high and thick, the greens typically run pretty firm and the tournament itself is great. Last year was the first year without Arnie in the galleries, but he’s still here in spirit and I’m sure whoever wins will dedicate their win to Chubbs… err, Arnie and the Palmer family.
